  • 2. Conference Calls
    • Conference calls are made over the telephone.
    • It is similar to three way calling, but more people can be put on a line.
    • This is a very useful technology to a business.
  • 3. Conference Calls
    • Why conference calls are useful to a business:
      • They cut travel costs.
      • They allow employees to hold meetings from remote locations, whether it be another floor or country.
      • It improves employee efficiency by stopping employees from having to make out of office meetings.
  • 4. Conference Calls
    • To manage a conference call:
      • Plan the meeting before hand, send everyone numbers, create agendas, etc.
      • Know the names of everyone at the meeting.
      • Don’t dictate the call.
      • Don’t let others, or even yourself, get off track.
      • Commit to the call.
  • 5. Skype
    • Skype is also a useful technology in conference calling.
    • Using a computer you can also make conference calls.
    • Skype is a free service.
  • 6. Skype Needs
    • Using Skype is simple, you will only need these items:
      • An internet connection
      • A microphone
      • Speakers
      • A headset can replace the microphone and speakers
      • If you have a camera, you can also use video conferencing capabilities.
  • 7. Using Skype
    • To use Skype you will need a user account first off.
    • From there you will be able to search for other Skype users you wish to call with:
      • Their user name
      • Their full name
      • Sometimes even their email address.
  • 8. Using Skype
    • Once you have found your contact, just right click them and select add to contacts.
    • Then return to your contacts window and double click the contact.
    • This will then start the call.
  • 9. Skype Rules
    • This is a free service and you may call other Skype members for free.
    • However, to call regular land lines or cell phones you must first purchase Skype credit.
    • Skype credit must be purchased in $10.00 increments.
    • Skype only charges $0.021 a minute
  • 10. Skype Videoconferencing
    • Another useful feature of Skype is that you can videoconference.
    • With videoconferencing, not only can you hear your contact you can also see them.
    • However make sure your PC is good enough to run this feature.
    • Low amounts of RAM or dial up connections are not good for videoconferencing capabilities.
