  • 1. Survival Skills Film Project Students are reading My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. In this book, Sam runs away from home to live in the Catskill Mountains. Students will research a given survival skill and create a film about that particular skill. Students may make a news broadcast, do a demonstration, or act out a skit. Students are welcome to ask an expert for information, or enlist friends for filming their 2-3 minute piece. Students will borrow a Flip camera overnight to film and must turn in a script when they return the camera. They will learn video editing strategies in class after the winter break, and videos will be posted online.
