How Do You Read a Picture? <ul><li>When analyzing an image, complete the following on a 5x8” index card: </li></ul><ul><li>Put the title of the Image on the top line </li></ul><ul><li>Put the artist on the second line </li></ul><ul><li>Put the source on the third line </li></ul><ul><li>Answer the following questions: </li></ul>

Analyzing Art <ul><li>Study the whole image for two minutes </li></ul><ul><li>Divide the image into quadrants </li></ul><ul><li>List any people, objects, or activities in each section </li></ul><ul><li>List three things you might infer from this image </li></ul><ul><li>What does this image say about our community? </li></ul><ul><li>What questions do you still have? They are wearing helmets, goggles, gloves, and jackets. They are riding Honda all terrain vehicles. The one in back is red. The one in front has a winch and no headlights. They are on a clay dirt road, surrounded by grass and shrubs. </li></ul><ul><li>These people enjoy outdoor activities since they are riding on a winter day. Safety is a priority because of the equipment they are wearing. The riders probably know each other – it looks like they are racing. </li></ul><ul><li>We live in a community that still has rural areas. People here enjoy motorsports and nature. </li></ul><ul><li>I wonder where they are riding. How old do you have to be to ride an ATV? Do you need a license? I could ask the photographer where she took the picture. I could look at the DMV website to figure out the laws about ATVs. </li></ul>
