  2. The insular relief <ul><li>The Balearic archipelago is placed in the Mediterranean sea. It includes the islands of Majorca , Minorca, , Ibiza ,Formentera and Cabrera . </li></ul><ul><li>The most of the relief is a prolongation of the Betic Systems </li></ul><ul><li>The North of Minorca is a prolongation of the Catalan Coastal Chain </li></ul>

  4. The Canary islands <ul><li>They are located in the Atlantic Ocean and there are seven principal islands (Lanzarote , fuerteventura, Great Canary, tenerife, La Gomera, The Palm and Hierro) and several minor ones . Their relief is volcanic </li></ul>
  5. Coasts <ul><li>The Cantabrian and north-east Atlantic coasts are rocky with a lot of cliffs </li></ul><ul><li>The Mediterranean and South- East Atlantic coasts have long, sandy beaches Which alternate with rocky cliffs </li></ul>
  6. Coasts <ul><li>On Balearic Islands there are beaches and rocky cliffs </li></ul><ul><li>On Canary islands there are cliffs of volcanic origin and there are beaches with dark sand </li></ul>
  7. Rivers <ul><li>Cantabrian Watershed : These rivers that flow into the Bay of Biscay . They are many and short , they are born in mountains near the coast. Their rainfalls are abundant and regular. They are rivers of regular regime </li></ul>

More rivers <ul><li>Atlantic Watershed : The galician rivers are plentiful and regular. </li></ul><ul><li>The rest of the rivers of this watershed are long and they have a lot of tributaries . </li></ul><ul><li>However they have an irregular regime due to the scanty rainfalls, especially in the summer low water </li></ul>
  9. Rivers <ul><li>Mediterranean watershed . These rivers are short, slightly plentiful and irregular . They suffer a strong low water in summer . They suffer dangerous flood in autumn, a phenomenon named “cold slug”. </li></ul><ul><li>The Ebro is the exception of this watershed. </li></ul><ul><li>It is a very long river, it has got an enormeous basin river and addition it is the most plentiful river of Spain </li></ul><ul><li>They are dry riverbed (ramblas) </li></ul>

  12. Lakes and lagoons <ul><li>Endogenous lakes are tectonic, La Janda </li></ul><ul><li>Exogenous lakes : </li></ul><ul><li>Lakes as glaciers they occupy zones eroded by the action of the ice, lake of Sanabria </li></ul>
  13. Exogenous lakes <ul><li>Karsticos lakes . They are formed in the areas eroded by the dissolution of the limy (caliza) Ruidera </li></ul><ul><li>Litorals . They are formed on the coast , Mar Menor, or Large salt water lagoon ( alfufera) of Valencia </li></ul>
