  • 1. Europe of the Restoration• Congress of Vienna is led by Metternich• His aim was the restoration of the absolute monarchies• The big four (Russia,Prussia, Austria and G. Britain) reorganized the map of Europe• The monarchs were supplied by his throne . The absolutism went back.• The Holy Alliance . Its purpose was to install the Christian values of charity and Peace in European political life

Restoration• They signed a big alliance to prevent revolutionary influences from entering these nations .• The alliance was against democracy, revolution and secularism• It permitted the right to military intervention if a country was falling into the hands of the liberalism movement• From 1825 Liberalism and Nationalism got the opposing forces for the Restoration Metternich

Liberalism• The citizen is a free individual• The citizens are the nation , which has sovereignty• The parliament is elected by suffrage and elaborates the laws .• A constitution is necessary• The division of power is proclaimed• The right of property is a fundamental freedom and the economy is based on the market .• The Government must never intervene in the economy
  • 4. Nationalism• Definition: nationalism is a centrifugal political ideology that the right of the people to make decisions for themselves and to defend their sovereignty• There are two types: centripetal• Centrifugal• Centripetal
