The Great Caribbean Treasure Hunt  Christopher Columbus discovered America, landing on 12th October 1492, on "Guanahani," one of the Bahama Islands and then to the island of Dominican Republic - Haiti, Tortuga and Cuba.  Since that time the waters of The Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico has been a hotbed of naval activity beginning in the 1500’s. Columbus founded the first colony in the New World on Hispaniola Island, and discovered Jamaica in 1494.
