Introduction • Why do we have to think about 1:1 bible study? • Why and how is 1:1 bible study relevant for us today?

Introduction • In order to inherit the great legacy of UBF, we have to understand the pillars of our ministry. • 1:1 bible study is one of the main pillars of UBF. • We have to know what 1:1 bible study is about.

Definition • What is 1:1 bible study? • What is the goal of 1:1 bible study?

Definition • Personal fellowship between a bible teacher and a bible student. • Bible teacher is not just a teacher. He’s a parent. • Goal: helping people to meet the God of the bible personally, come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord and eventually grow to 1:1 bible teachers.

Origin • Where does the concept of 1:1 bible study come from?

Origin Bible: 1:1 is God’s way to save the world.

Origin Church history: Through 1:1 the gospel spread.

Importance • Is 1:1 still the right, the best way of teaching the bible and serving God in our generation? • When not, do you see any alternatives?

Importance • 1:1 bible study seems too small and insignificant, old-fashioned and outdated. • But God’s work begins always with ONE kernel of wheat falling to the ground, with ONE man believing in God. • 1 man is important. • 1:1 bible study is the way to serve world mission.

Advantages & Potential • What are the advantages of 1:1 bible study compared to other ways of studying or teaching the bible? • What potential does 1:1 bible study have?

Advantages • You can focus to help one person. • It’s a personal encounter. • EVERYONE can do 1:1. • You can do 1:1 with EVERYONE. • You can do 1:1 EVERYWHERE. • “1:1 brings the church to the people.”

Potential 1:1 has the potential to raise global leaders!

Advantages Global leaders are made… …through intensive 1:1 training!

Potential 1:1 has the potential to double our ministry! Linear Growth

Potential 1:1 has the potential to double our ministry! Exponential Growth After 10 years: 1024! After 20 years: 1040000!!!

Advantages There is nothing strange about doubling our ministry. It’s completely natural! Ok?!?

Obstacles vs. Motivation • If 1:1 bible study is so good, why do we hesitate to do 1:1 bible study? • And why should we do 1:1 bible study in spite of all these obstacles?

Practical Application • Gospel must be the central focus. • Present the whole picture. • Emphasize personal application of God’s word.

Practical Application • Be an example. • Lead people to God! • 1:1 is a life time mission. • Do your very best! • Know what your bible student believes. • Pray!!!

Practical Application • Be a friend. • Share your strengths AND your weaknesses. • Don’t lose focus. • Help bible student to focus on God’s word. • Keep time, smile, eye contact, remember important dates. • Listen.
