2. Identify Problem
• When researching you need to find out your main concepts that you are going to
want to incorporate in your research and you will need to write everything down.
What you are writing down will be very useful in your research process.
3. Background Research
• While researching you will need to do some background reading as well as what
you are researching to really understand the topic and the problem you are
researching about, so when writing your paper it is clear to the reader what the
problem is and how the problem m was created . It will also help you find a strong
starting point for your paper to really get the point across.
4. Find Useful Tools
• When you find out a topic for sure you are going to research you will need to find
out what tools are going to be the best for researching you specific topic. Whether
it is going to be going online and researching on a search engine or if it is reading
out of a encyclopedia or going in person and interviewing a source
5. Preparation
• When you are going to write a research paper make sure you have a direct idea
about the topic you are going to research and make sure you have a plan you think
will work best. Without a plan you will just end up researching off topic subjects
and your research paper will be a failure because you will not be able to focus on
one topic and will be writing about multiple things that do not pertain to the main
subject itself.
6. Sources
• When you are researching be sure to write down all the sources of your
information you have accumulated during the research process because without
those sources your words will not be taken seriously and they could also be
plagiarized meaning you will not have the sources necessary to credit the author
of the information you borrowed for your research.
7. Results and Citing Sources
• When evaluating your results make sure all the information is relevant to the point
you want to get across to the reader. Make sure the information you have found is
enough or if you will need to do a little more researching or if you have to much
find more of the important points and take some of the less important off. Always
remember at the end of your research paper you have one last CRUCIAL step in
your research. You will always have to cite your sources because without the
publication record all your information could be labeled false or plagiarized. You
can also write down the location library or librarian where you got your
information from if you think necessary.
8. State of Confusion
• If you are having difficulties with any of these steps you can always ask for
guidance with writing a research paper. Talk to your informational professionals or
librarian about the problem you are having and surely they will be able to assist
you.
