Theories of Modern Day - The boundaries of the constellations were adopted in 1930. - 48of the modern day classical constellations don’t cover our sky - The stars that make up a constellation don’t bound together in close association. - In 1922 the 88 official constellations were listed by the IAU (International Astronomical Union) - Six years later the boundaries of each were approved. o the real modern day constellations are a challenge to find unlike the classical constellations that had taken up most of the bright stars o Many modern day constellations will be found in the north or south horizon and some won’t rise even at their highest altitude. o Learning the classical constellations would lead you to find the modern day constellations.
