    • What is a research paper?
      • A summary of what others have already said or written on a given subject
      • A library paper or term paper
      • A paper in which the source of material is credited
    • What does a research paper do?
      • The research paper presents facts which are:
      • • based upon reading or consulting several specified sources
      • • presented according to a standard method of procedure
      • • limited to a relatively narrow phase of a subject
      • • original in selection, evaluation, expression, and conclusion
    • Three criteria for a topic:
      • The topic should interest you.
      • It should be within your abilities.
      • There should be enough information available on it to complete a paper.
