You return to your hotel in Luang Prabangand overnight there.Day 3: Luang Prabang (B)You will enjoy a tour of Luang Prabang with remarkable Wat Xieng Thong, the temple ofthe golden city, as well as the gilded carved façade of Wat Mai. You visit the NationalMuseum in the former Royal Palace, where relics from Laos’ royalist past remain. It issaid that those who do not climb the 328 steps up Phousi Mountain have not really visitedthe city. The climb is steep, but your reward is an incredible view of this lovely city andthe surrounding mountains. You continue visiting the Traditional Arts and EthnologyCenter which will give you a glimpse of the daily lives of the tribal peoples of NorthernLaos. You return to your hotel in Luang Prabang and overnight there.Day 4: Discover Kuang Si Waterfall (B)If you get up early, you can watch or participatein the traditional Lao rite of giving alms to themonks. Every morning, monks get through thecity silently collecting alms. It’s an amazingsight. Your guide will explain the meaning ofthis important ritual. You can also visit thebustling Morning Market and learn about exoticingredients that go into Laotian cooking. Afterbreakfast, drive to Kuang Si Waterfall. You willstop along the way to visit the Living CraftsCentre, where you can meet weavers and learnabout traditional Laotian textiles. At the falls,crystal water cascades into idyllic turquoise pools. You can swim if want to. The nearbySun Bear Refuge you will learn more about the poaching that is endangering these gentlecreatures. You can visit the colorfuland vibrant Phosy Market, with an expert chef to select the ingredients you need for yourlesson. Collect fresh herbs from an exotic jungle garden. The chef will explain thedifferences between the various cuisines of Southeast Asia and distribute printed recipesso you can cook them for your friends at home. Still rivers provide many different kinds of food for the local people.- Do not buy and/or smoke opium/marijuana from villagers and guides. This could be bigmoney for the guides or villagers, with sad consequences for the villages! Many of whichdo not even grow their own opium could think to make a good business with tourists. Onthe other hand all official sides hope to stop growing opium. Please respect! Also villagechildren see foreigners smoking and think they can do the same every day, and still go tocollege and make lots of money just like the tourists do.
