When propane is used as an autogas, it’s referred to as liquid petroleum gas, or LPG. People fill their vehicles with it because it’s clean, safe, affordable, and long lasting.
1. Why Use Propane as an
Autogas?

When propane is used as
an autogas, it’s referred
to as liquid petroleum
gas, or LPG.
People fill their vehicles with
it because it’s clean, safe,
affordable, and long
lasting.
2. It’s the Cleanest, Greenest
Fossil Fuel
LPG vehicles have a smaller impact on
the environment when compared to
gasoline and diesel vehicles. Compared
to these vehicles, LPG vehicles emit:
12% less carbon dioxide
60% less carbon monoxide
20% less nitrogen oxide
These numbers can result in up to 80%
less hydrocarbons and 17% less
greenhouse gas emissions .

3. It’s Safe and has the Lowest
Flammability Range
LPG has the lowest flammability range
of any alternative motor fuel.
The propane tanks installed into
vehicles are typically 20 times more
resistant to puncture than standard
gasoline or diesel tanks.
LPG is also stored in a relatively low
pressure tank at about 300psi, while
natural gas is kept at 3600psi.

4. It’s Affordable and Comes with
Tax Incentives
With tax incentives and grants
available, many municipalities have
converted fleets to LPG fleets.
In addition, the price of LPG is nearly
$1.00 less than gasoline.
Maintaining LPG infrastructure is also
less costly when compared to diesel,
since the EPA classifies propane as a
non-contaminant.

5. It Maximizes the Lifespan of Your
Vehicle
Vehicles that run on LPG require less
oil than diesel-fueled vehicles and do
not require extra filters and emission
fluid.
Because LPG vehicles run cleaner,
there is less maintenance required,
which will typically allow your engine
to last twice as long.
