Cville Race Initiatives Background• Several previous attempts to implement a Human Rights Commissions in Charlottesville since the 1970s, all failed.• 1976 the Department of Community Development/NDS did a report on race relations in Charlottesville.• 1985 there was a study done on Race and Education in Charlottesville• 2003 There was the Citizens for a United Community initiative• 2008 the Dialogue on Race initiative• 2010-11 there have been several major studies on issues pertaining to race• 2010 The Dialogue on Race Policy Action Team proposes Charlottesville Commission on Human Rights
