There was once a king who offered a prizeto the artist who would paint the bestpicture of PEACE . . .Many artists tried. . . . The king looked atall the pictures . . .But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them . . .
Picture 1Picture 1 was of a calm lake. The lake was aperfect mirror for peaceful toweringmountains all around. Overhead was a bluesky with fluffy white clouds
Picture 2Picture 2 had mountains, too. Above was an angry sky, fromwhich rain fell and in which lightning played. But when theKing looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bushgrowing. In the bush a mother bird had built the nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat themother bird on her nest – in perfect peace.
The king chosethe secondpicture . . .Do you nowwhy?
“Because” explained the king, “peace doesnot mean to be in a place where there isno noise, trouble, or hardwork . . . .Peace means to be in the midst of allthose things and still be calm in your heart...That is the REAL MEANING OF PEACE . .
