This is my graduation thesis, (only in Italian). Corso di Laurea in Disegno Industriale, Politecnico di Milano, 1999.
The object of this thesis is a special television for the subway of Milan, which has been designed thinking about a short communication, because its enjoying time is short.
I’ve decided to call it «finestrino» (the Italian word for the train window), for the reason that the most common metaphor for television is a window viewing the world. In that way I’ve chosen to illustrate a more modest pretension: to make visible a limited space, only the urban one. The stream of passengers, moreover, involves a streaming communication which is not expressed by a window. This, infact, seems capable of bringing back some pictures of reality, some statics. Looking outside a train window, instead, you see different incessant photograms, which refers to the stream of the landscape that keeps on sliding in front of you. In the subway, however, slides a non-landscape. This is the reason why I’ve thought up a «virtual finestrino», so as to recreate a contact with the overground space. less
