    •  Paris, the capital of France and of the Ile deFrance region, covers a surface area of 105km² and has a population, according to thelast census in 1999, of 2,125,246. the city isdivided into 20 administrativearrondissements.Paris, also called the city of light because isone of the most popular tourist destinations inthe world, with 45 million tourists every year.Paris has an oceanic climate and is affectedby the Notrth Atlantic Current so the cityrarely sees extremely high or lowtemperatures.

Today the citys multiculturalinheritance can be admired in hundreds ofmuseums,galleries, and churches that grace nearlyevery part of the city.
