The layout of the text on the poster is isolated on its own which could create
an eerie atmosphere and ambiguity, it is in a very small and basic font which
will make the viewers interested on the content. It is positioned so the reader
immediately sees it when they are shown the poster. The line “you won’t
believe how it ends” will make viewers more intrigued and will attract them to
the film making them want to watch it.
In comparison to the tagline of the poster the actual name of the film is in a
larger more recognisable font, this is due to the whole Saw franchise using
the same font all the time so audiences specifically associate it with “Saw”.
The title and cinema information, release date etc is shown in a contrasting
colour to black, red, this could also have the connotations of danger. If you
look closely at the Poster you can see that the release date is close to
Halloween this helps to make the film more “scary” and also relates to the
genre of the film. This is a usual thing to do with a new horror film as it is
seen as the “scariest” time of the year; hence the new SAW 3D film is being
released this year in the same week as Halloween.
The main focus of the poster is the image in the bottom left hand corner, and
the isolated text that is central. The disturbing, blurred image of the man in
the corner shows that he is “trapped” and trying to escape. This image helps
to reflect the scenarios of the film, and the twisted horror that SAW is famous
