Based at New York University, G4LI is a joint research endeavor of Microsoft Research bringing together 14 game designers, computer scientists, and education researchers from nine partner institutions including Columbia University, City University of New York, Dartmouth, NYU, NYU-Poly, Parsons, Chile’s Pontifica Universidad Catolica, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Teacher’s College at Columbia University. The Institute’s aim is to identify design patterns for effective educational games that industry partners can draw on to assure high quality when designing their own games for learning.
