ioTurbine™ is an innovative caching software approach that allows users to double the number of VMs on industry standard servers while integrating seamlessly into existing SAN or NAS storage. The resulting savings in CAPEX and OPEX are substantial, as consolidation benefits include fewer software licenses, less physical hardware, smaller physical footprint, and reduced power and cooling costs.
Server virtualization randomizes even sequential storage workloads, which presents the most challenging I/O profile for hard disks to handle. This phenomenon, frequently referred to as the “I/O blender,” quickly taps disk I/O capabilities, presenting great performance challenges for virtualized applications as they contend for disk resources.
When disk I/O limits the growth of VM density, customers realize less consolidation savings because more physical hardware and software licenses are required.
