1. 1. «Just because your paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not mapping you.» Satellite Spotting/Listening at dock18 alejo duque sept2010
2. 4. Satellites are used to extend, mantain and exercise control, along with cultural allienation and economical explotiation. They serve as an extension to a post-colonial hegemony that reaches out the hemispherical south through hertzian dimension.
3. 8. The problem of how to get there could be tackled by launching from a HEB (High Elevation Ballon)
4. 9. NASA system for satellites based on ballons
5. 10. The Sleeper
6. 11. The blue ring represents the gso (Geo Stationary Orbiters) in the Clark Belt 36000km above us
7. 12. Infraestructura de fibra optica conectando el planeta How fiber optics connect the plannet
8. 13. Fiber optic lines across the planet, telecoms see the green as potential markets
9. 14. A satellite dish in mongolia
10. 15. A satellite dish in Iquitos i
11. 16. The antenna tower relays today digital packets
12. 18. A poetic or even a political recount of such devices, their orbits, footprints, be them through sound compositions or data visualizations can serve the purpose to allow a move from being passively surveilled, mapped and directed through radio electric waves, to a less passive stage where we can rethink and become operators. there's not even the need to launch or «own» as some brazilian satcom pirates have shown for few years now reappropriating 24/7 a US military bird and more precisely its UHF freq. at 255.550mhz. (fltsatcom-8 15E)
13. 19. Some Instruments: Radio Scanner, EMF meter, IR filters, SDRs (USRP)
14. 20. DIY antenna for UHF – 10euros worth h
15. 21.
Quick run down of the major bands one could “hear”:
25.000-46.000 MHz low power transmitters, 27MHz CB,
16. 22. cordless phones, defense communications.
17. 23. 50.000-54.000 MHz Amateur 6M band 70.000-87.500 MHz Commercial users, government, emergency services etc.
18. 24. 88-108 MHz – FM broadcasts band 108.000-137.000 MHz Aircraft band 144.000-148.000 MHz Amateur 2M band 148.000-150.00 MHz Pagers 150.000-174.000 MHz Commercial users, government, emergency services, trunking
19. 25. 225.000-400.000 MHz Defense allocations, includes some satellite communications
20. 26. 403.000-420.000 MHz Commercial users, government, emergency services, trunking 420.000-450.000 MHz Amateur 70cm band. 450.000-520.000 MHz Commercial users, government, emergency services, UHF CB 820.000-960.000 MHz trunking, links 960.000 up mainly links, very little voice communications to be heard.

26. 32. The Bogota Declaration is an unratified UN declaration about sovreignty of the geostationary orbit, which is the ring of satellites that orbit at 36 000 km above the equator. At the time it was first written, no equatorial countries had satellites and most of the slots were taken by the dominant nations, highlighting inequalities in technology. The Bogota Declaration is about this and talks about the benefits satellite technology could bring to equatorial countries. It has a strong, poetic voice we were also taken by. http://bogotadeclaration.wordpress.com/
27. 33. The undersigned representatives of the States traversed by the Equator met in Bogota, Republic of Colombia, from 29 November through 3 December, 1976 with the purpose of studying the geostationary orbit that corresponds to their national terrestrial, sea, and insular territory and considered as a natural resource. Brasil, Colombia, Congo, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, Zaire The Bogota Declaration http://bogotadeclaration.wordpress.com/
