  • The old vs. new graphics are visible right away when we come to this slide; they don’t animate in the way they do on the previous slide and the next slide. But it should be consistent right? Also, in the interest of clarity and simplicity, I should have arranged the list of menu items according to what makes sense, not how things are “geographically” laid out on the site. Therefore, let’s keep the order we have on the left/old side but the right/new side should be reordered (top to bottom) as follows:TechnologyWorking with GRCNews & EventsAbout UsResources
  • Short, on-screen summaries availableAllows visitor to more easily “screen” for relevanceAdditional details, links to more info providedMore comprehensiveInfo provided for all technologiesLevel of detail/effort linked to expected return on investment (ROI)

National Aeronautics and Space Administration Why We Initiated Redesign Directing resources into Web Align with site improvements provides strategic plan excellent ROI Matching main NASA Web Enhance visual site’s new look/feel creates a “affinity” “one NASA” image Providing up-to-date Streamline information and instructions communication reduces personnel- or resource-intensive efforts Providing documents online Reduce printing minimizes printing needs 2 NASA’s Glenn Research Center http://technology.grc.nasa.gov
    4. 4. National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goals for New Site Communicate Glenn’s Increase credibility as a license/ source for partnership technology and successes collaboration • Demonstrate • Advertise opportunities breadth/depth of • Inspire/Educate Glenn’s capabilities external organizations about working with Glenn 3 NASA’s Glenn Research Center http://technology.grc.nasa.gov
    5. 5. National Aeronautics and Space Administration Examining What We Had Reviewed current portfolio of technologies to identify Glenn’s key capabilities Grouped together similar types of information, creating new structure Considered external Web site structures to identify best practices Identified data available on other NASA centers’ sites that could be leveraged within new structure 4 NASA’s Glenn Research Center http://technology.grc.nasa.gov
