1. My Life in Austin’s Colony By Baylor Hudson Witherspoon-4
2. 1822 We have arrived in Austin’s colony in 1822. TheLively was late and we didn’t get our supplies in time. Austin gave us $1,000 to invest in. We bought 20 head of cattle for $10 each which is overall $200. The winter was rough and most of the cattle died. The demand for lumber was high and it was a good year for lumber. Since it was a very harsh winter the cotton was dying because the harsh winter. I made total of $1,078.40 that year.
3. 1823 We have just come off a cold harsh winter and trying to restore the damage the winter did. I have a total of $1,078.40 to spend on cattle, lumber, and cotton. I have bought 20 acres of cotton which is $100. I also got 20 acres of lumber which is $100 and finally 60 head of cattle which is $600. This year the Lively sank and we didn’t get our supplies. The Mexican government was disputing over cotton, so we didn’t much cotton. The cattle did excellent and we wanted meat. There wasn’t a lot of demand for lumber, so there wasn’t a lot of building. I made a total of $156.80.
4. 1824 We have come off a mild winter not that harsh. I have a total of $156.80 to spend on cattle, lumber, and cotton. I bought 2 heads of cattle which was $20. I got 10 acres of cotton for $50.00. I got 3 acres of lumber for $15.00. Austin’s colony thrived and we had a high demand for lumber. We also a bumper cotton crop and a high demand for beef. We got $150 for cotton and $30 for lumber and $40 for cattle. We made a total of $674.20 this year.
5. Town The town I went to was San Felipe. I gained $600 there and my final total for these 3 years are $674.20.
