  3. 3. PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL ABOUT THE SHOW A Night of Swing re creates the authentic “vibe” from the best Jazz and Swing players of the 1920’s and 1930’s era. The music selected takes us through a chronological journey from the roots of Jazz. The musicians are unique in RSA and are of world class standard. The first part (Stevedore Stomp – Composer Duke Ellington, Original Dixieland One Step – Composer Nick LaRocca, Snake Rag – Composer King Oliver) illustrates the sheer magic and raw energy of the New Orleans and Chicago sound of the 1920’s. Arrangements are drawn from original recordings of “Original Dixieland Jazz Band” and “King Oliver’s Creole Jazz band with Louis Armstrong” to include animated musical effects re Trumpet, Trombone “plunger” mutes and Clarinet syncopation. The “Authentic Drumming “of the era sets a theme of real energy. The dancing, authentic costumes and bandstand props make for a dynamic and unique opening to the show. Part 2 introduces vocals. Someday you’ll be sorry written by Louis Armstrong followed by the Classic Hoagy Carmichael (of Stardust Fame) composition ‘”Georgia” and finishing with the 1930’s standard “After You’ve Gone” (Written by Creamer/Layton) starting slow and Bluesy and building to a fast tempo with an exciting energetic arrangement. The music captures the early swing era. Our journey concludes with a revisit to New Orleans with composer “Jelly Roll Morton’s” Chant. An exciting, complex and very animated arrangement followed by the sensual “tango/tom tom” rhythms of Duke Ellington’s “Black and Tan Fantasy”. The Finale is the Classic Swing Hit of the 1930’s (1938) “I Can’t Get Started”, a show piece of the great Swing trumpet player of the day Bunny Berigan. The French Icon guitarist Django Reinhardt’s typical swing rhythm has been used as the foundation for this classic number. SHOW FORMAT FOR THEATRE/ CASINO A continuous 60 minute show consisting of three parts with no breaks or intervals. Band, singers, and dancers. A complete and entertaining show, with great set design and props, authentic costuming and fantastic dancers and effects. 3 Copyright© 2010 Frog Productions

Original Dixieland One Step, and 3. Snake Rag. Set 2: Approximately 13 minutes and 38 seconds : 1. Someday you’ll be sorry – medium tempo vocal ll 2. Georgia – Ol’ time favourite vocal taking the audience back in time 3. After you’ve gone – Slow tempo in keeping with Georgia but then doubles up in tempo to finish the set on a high.
