D.NAMICA studies the implementation of a computing platform for the integration of clinical and genetic indicators. The purpose of the platform is to support research for the personalization of medicine.
D.NAMICA is cofunded by ERDF - European Regional Development Fund - Friuli Venezia Giulia Region Operational Programme 2007 - 2013. The project fosters the cooperation between research organizations, universities, technology transfer centres and enterprises.

The purpose of the platform is to support research for thepersonalization of medicine.D.NAMICA is cofunded by ERDF - European RegionalDevelopment Fund - Friuli Venezia Giulia Region OperationalProgramme 2007 - 2013. The project fosters the cooperationbetween research organizations, universities, technology transfercentres and enterprises.It started in February 2012 and the duration of the project is 30months.21/03/2013 2
  • 3. D.NAMICA project Project idea Research and clinical practice are moving toward the integration of clinical data with molecular data from genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and other “-omics. This is the future challenge to achieve a personalized medicine. The project goal is thus to develop an integrated intelligent system to collect, manage and make clinical and molecular data of patients suffering cardiac, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases available for researchers and doctors.21/03/2013 4
  • 4. D.NAMICA Project Project ideaPilot projects The project will implement three pilot projects in the following areas: • cardiology (dilated cardiomyopathy); • oncology (Hepatocellular carcinoma); • neurodegenerative diseases (spinal muscular atrophy).21/03/2013 5

Industrial researchGenetic-molecular parameters in patientsaffected by cardiac, cancer, andneurodegenerative diseases will be analyzedby advanced sequencing techniques.The management of these data will becomplementary to those collected during theclinic experimentation phase using a tailoredcomputing platform to collect, integrate, storeand share data and elaborations for clinicalresearch.21/03/2013 7

Pre-competitive developmentThe partners, using standard approaches, will develop:• diagnostic panels able to detect genetic polymorphisms for the investigatedpathologies, as well as new genomic tests;• prototypal devices for the connection and interface of data surveying instruments (forclinical, biological and genomic analysis) for the implementation of the integrated EMR;• a user friendly computing platform prototype for the three pilot experimentations.21/03/2013 8
