Friends of the River Uncompahgre (FORU) <ul><li>formed summer 2006, in response to the fast pace of growth and the need to safeguard the river corridor. </li></ul><ul><li>MISSION : Restore, enhance and protect the Uncompahgre River and its riparian corridor. </li></ul><ul><li>To accomplish this mission, FORU is working to: </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Create partnerships throughout Ouray, Montrose and Delta counties </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Enhance wildlife and fish habitat </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Promote multiple recreational use </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Develop a water quality improvement plan </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Develop an Uncompahgre River Master Plan </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Participate in the City and County Comprehensive Plans </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Educate the community about the benefits of a healthy Uncompahgre River watershed. </li></ul></ul></ul>
