Drumming Circle Presentation Transcript

    • The main objective is to share rhythm and get in tune with each other and themselves
    • To form a group consciousness
    • Creates a place for a person to express themselves through rhythm

    • reduces stress and introduces a new level of confidence and self expression
    • Inspires clients to be creative
    • Is a form of exercise
    • Stimulates the senses
    • Helps clients remember their own musical memories

    • Creates positive interactions
    • Is a therapeutic experience due to the lack of a learning curve
    • Allowing the opportunity for clients to share their musical accomplishments and stories

    • Warm up
    • Simple drum patterns
    • Sing a longs
    • Freestyle Share work
    • (Solos will only be done if clients request it)
  • 6.
    • Duration: 5 – 10 min depending on the group
    • Stretching arms and fingers before playing
    • I will play drum beats and encourage clients to repeat it
    • Drum Pattern One

    • Duration: 10 min
    • I will conduct the class by playing various simple patterns and encourage clients to repeat
    • Drum Pattern Two
    • Drum Pattern Three
    • Drum Pattern Four

    • Duration: 20 min
    • Group will be given a chance to drum to different styles of songs
    • Are also welcome to sing a long
    • For example a great one is Disney’s The Lion King – The Circle of Life
  • 9.
    • Duration: 20 min
    • a volunteer will start a beat and this becomes the tempo and the tone of the piece
    • Using this as a guideline it will prevent the class from slipping into the same rhythm patterns and from one person continuously dominating
  • 10.
