If these are the attitudes towards

is plastic packaging growing more
than wood fibre based
packaging???

Traditional wood fibre packaging is
BORING!
To challenge plastic packaging we
as an industry has to think in new
ways.

Can we extend the third dimension
of packaging?

Carlsberg will develop
the first fully
biodegradable bottle
and cap made from
wood fibre.
To realize this they
have initiated a 3 year
development project
together with the
Danish company
ecoXpack.
WOW - hope to see
this on the market!

Can we use our existing
infrastructure to produce 3D-
paper???

Stanford L. Cluett
Say hello to the inventor Mr.
Stanford Cluett. He was born
in the city of Troy in 1874
and was the nephew of the
owner of the famous shirt
manufacturer Cluett,
Peabody & Co (still active
today!) .
In his lifetime he manage to
get a world monopoly on
shrink-free clothing AND a
world monopoly on 3D high-
stretchable paper!
This was great news for both
people buying a shirt (finally
they could buy the right
size!) and of course sack
paper producers.

making “micro-compressions”

A good example of a material that
shows the possibility to go from 2D to
3D paper is FibreForm. How
BillerudKorsnäs manufacture it is
however a well kept secret…

Cool initiative that proves that wood fibre based
packaging doesn't have to be boring!
Also interesting from a business model perspective as
they will supply the customer with a complete
packaging solution and not just a packaging material.
Hope to see it on the market early 2016.

comes to 3D-paper!

Innventia has a pilot paper
machine - in the center of
Stockholm!
Here we play around with
everything from optimization
of traditional paper and board
grades to more novel
biomaterial applications.
From autumn 2015 it will for
example be possible to run
trials relating to the next
generation of “3D-paper”.
Make sure to drop by if you're
