  • 2. How the news of Emilsapproach reached Singaporewas a bit of a mystery, as theartists itinerary was aclosely-guarded secret, evenin the U.S.In fact, not until he arrived inHonolulu was it was learnedhe was accompanied by MissNaiyana. However, the news reachedSingapore on November 9th,that a US ship, the PresidentClinton, was approaching thecity and that one of thepassengers aboard was theworld-famous and much-loved artist...EMIL WEST.
  • 3. DATELINE: SINGAPOREThe citys art community was abuzz with the news, and hasty preparations to greet him beganimmediately. But a possible flaw in this was the question of whether Emil would get off the ship, whichwould dock there for less than 24 hours, leaving early the next morning. The itinerary was secret as hehad wanted a quiet, relaxing holiday, free of the mobs of reporters who beseiged him whenever hetraveled outside the U.S.
  • 4. 2011 Emil West Mini-Catalog All Rights Reserved by WWWG Productions Ltd. 1990 – 2020 For licensing rights contact: fredgwest1999@yahoo.com Previously Published Art.This time would be no different, as there were already more than 40 Singaporeand foreign journalists at the dock at noon, before the Clinton had even enteredthe harbor. For some reason, there were no local movie celebrities at the dock, perhaps because the visit had caught the studios a bit by surprise; in any case, they made up for it that evening, especially considering they had only 24 hours toprepare. (It later turned out that Emils original itinerary was: "Sail from Californiato Honolulu and then across to Japan. One days stopover in Singapore, thendepart for Bali and Indo-China on the same ship.” At last, passage "through theSuez Canal to Paris." The entire trip was to take five months.)
