  • 1. WAREHOUSE WORKERS HIRING 2nd SHIFT WAREHOUSE WORKERS DOWNLOAD AND BRING APPICATION: http://peddlersson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/NEW-PEDDLERS- Employment-application-february-2014-.pdf We accept applications at our warehouse on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8:00am to 2:00pm, located at 214 S. 14th St. Phoenix, AZ 85034
  • 2. STEP ONE: GET APPLICATION AND READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. The application is simple BUT, it must be complete with complete information. If you fail to do it correctly, if you leave just one space undone, they will not accept your application. Print neatly and make it easy to read. http://peddlersson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/NEW-PEDDLERS- Employment-application-february-2014-.pdf STEP TWO: Prepare for the interview by doing your homework on the company and what they do. You have succeeded if you can go over and have an intelligent conversation about the employer and their business. INTERVIEW CLOTHES: First you need to dress for the job and go to the interview like you were going to work. Dress for Success here is a nice pair of jeans and a collared shirt (polo shirts work well). Steel-toe boots are needed only if they hire you. KNOW IF YOU CAN DO THE JOB OR NOT: These are very nice people but, they are business people with a business to run, they are not social workers. They tell you on the front side what standards they expect. Being on time and not missing work is critical to you keeping this job. Please read through the job description and be truthful about your ability to hold to their standards. This (current position) is a second shift and they are not moving to the new location until August. Please look at the location and determine if the current location works for you or not. How will you get home? Think through this before you apply for any location where this would be an issue. They need you to be there before your start time not ten minutes late. . They will pay for your drug test but will take the money out of your pay. If you do not pass the drug test and they do not hire you, you will need to pay the lab $45.50 for the test. They are willing to consider people with prior criminal history based upon the charge(s), how old the charges are, circumstances of what happened and what you have done since then. Honesty is the key factor as is explaining what happened. Steeling food to feed your babies is very different than steeling that large screen TV to watch the Super Bowl.

Others are considered upon the nature of the crime, how it related to the job applied for and the age of the offence. Always contact an employer and ask them what they mean by "pass" - you might be surprised as to the differences you will see...
  • 10. take the chip off the shoulder...How many jobs did you not apply for because you assumed that you knew what "pass" means or if it even applied to your circumstances...You lose nothing by calling...except unemployment… ============================================================== "WAY TO CALL" SCRIPT...TIPSTER #45: Don't start with "ya hire felons?" Start with "I am _______(JOB TITLES) with ____years of experience, I can do____(*insert your talking points on your skills and abilities...Then say "Oh, by the way...what does "pass a background check mean?" • 11. ATLASTA CATERING IS SEEKING EXPERIENCED LINE COOKS TO JOIN OUR GROWING COMPANY Current line experience required. Candidates must exude a drive for excellence, possess the ability to multi task and complete tasks under exacting timelines. Atlasta bases all hiring decisions on the candidate's energy, integrity and attitude. For consideration of this great opportunity, email your resume (if you have) or your work history to: micah@atlastacatering.com ======================================================= LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED LINE COOKS TO JOIN OUR TEAM Starting pay rate is $11-$13 per hour. Morning shifts start at 9am and end at 3pm/4pm. Night shifts start at 4pm and end around 10pm. Previous experience in a high paced, full- service restaurant is a plus. But even more important is an enthusiastic and outgoing personality who enjoys working in a team setting. NOTE: This is not a seasonal job. We are busy year round and are looking for cooks to grow with our company. Your hours will not be cut during the summer. If you work in a seasonal restaurant/resort this is the perfect time to join a great company. Please apply in person between 9am-11am OR 2-5pm @ 5029 N 44th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85018 - Please bring 2 forms of valid ID with you to your interview. Also, bring you “A” Game by doing your homework on this company. Show them that you are truly interested enough to already know their menu. TIPSTER: A real key to getting hired is to learn the menu before you go. “No time or too much effort” you tell me. You need to hit more stores and pump out more applications. Everything is numbers…the more applications the better.
  • 12. WHO TAUGHT YOU THIS? GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK! The reality is that it is time better spent doing one or two applications per day CORRECTLY than to pump out 100 that are not. Think about this. This is really critical to you getting a job in the short term. You get no reward for volume but, you do get a reward for doing an application correctly – you get more interviews and that means (if you do your job) you are gone to be offered jobs (bottomline). Back to why you need to learn the menu and it comes down to pure common sense. Common sense says that training is centered on you learning the menu. If you show up and already know the menu, how much training will you need? Does this give you an advantage? Common sense! ================================================================= SSP AMERICA – COMPANY CHANGES WITH NEW CEO http://www.foodtravelexperts.com/international/ SSP AMERICA HAS A NEW CEO THAT PUTS FOOD FIRST…CREATES A MORE WOMEN (EMPLOYEE) FRIENDLY WORK ENVIRONMENT… http://foodtravelupdate.com/

  • 14. IS SSP AMERICA TRULY? Here in Phoenix, SSP America has two separate operations. One is at Sky Harbor Airport and there is the Homeland Security Badging process. The badging process is complicated. Some things are acceptable after “X” number of years while other things are never. Many times, even the employers are not sure. DON’T ASSUME THAT THE ANSWER IS NO. If the employer is not certain how can you be? Contact the Sky Harbor Badging Office and make sure. Better to ask and be surprised than to just walk away from a great opportunity to only find out you were wrong. http://skyharbor.com/about/securitybadging.html SSP AMERICA also has a 48,000 sq. ft. cooking facility off the airport at 16th St. and Grant. Since this is not at the airport, different rules and measures are in place. At the Grant Facility, your skills, abilities are the first consideration. If you have done your job to show them how well you match the skills that they need, you will find that they are much more willing to talk about your past. They are concerned with who you are and what you bring to the table. They look at the age, IMPORTANTLY they want to know the circumstances as to what happened, do you have remorse and what have you done to put your life back together. You need to reassure them that you are NO LONG that person and illustrate by what you have done to make yourself different. Repentant people are unlikely to repeat past mistakes. They look at how old the offence(s) are (with age and lack of additional charges a good indicator of truth on your part). BEST ADVISE “BE HONEST…BE HUMAN!” If people see you has a human being, then mistakes are expected as is help and assistance.

You may apply on line, submit your resume or print out an Application (available below). Once completed you may hand deliver or mail the application to Big Surf Waterpark. You may also e-mail it to BigWave@BigSurfFun.com TIPSTER: Mailing or E-Mailing seems like the easy way! It is the lazy way and the way NEVER to get this job way to go. All E-mailing or mailing is a means to get you invited to come see them. GO back a re-read what they wrote. They already invited you to come out to introduce yourself and meet with them. By e-mailing or mailing, you have told them that you are not really serious about working for them. If you were serious, you would already be camped on their door step. If you really wanted this wouldn’t you? This is how the employer reads this. If you reason for E-Mailing is the distance. Someone said this today “Oh but, it is so far to go and I am so busy…” First, if it is so far, why are you applying? If you get the job, it will still be the same distance. Best advice we can give you is to stay local. The number one reason for getting fired your first month of work is lateness or missed days (most times due to lack of transportation). Rule of thumb is that if I cannot get myself a bicycle and get to work on time it is too far away and I am sitting myself up to fail. Think about it? • 31. A YOUNG LADY CRIED: “I HAVE NO SKILLS!” “I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE!” “I HAVE NO HOPE!” With that, she had resigned herself to the helplessness of her plight and that it wasn’t worth her effort to try. I told her that this was a copout and that I wasn’t going to let her do that. I said that because her conclusion was so far from true anywhere except in her mind. In fact, all of the jobs that she seemed to have an interest in, they centered on what she felt comfortable with, stuff that she had spent years (at home) perfecting her skills and abilities up to a master’s level. In several of these areas, she was truly a journey level person: Cleaning, cooking and caregiving. In fact, I had to warn her that she may be over qualified for the entry level jobs in those industries. In each, she had professional experience and must be pretty good at each - as she says her kids never throw food back at her – and if anyone would, they would…the hardiest critiques come from those we care about the most…No space to explain…hope you get the jest of the argument. Whether others would agree with this assessment depends solely on her ability to showcase skills and abilities. It is like the old man use to say: “If the job is riding a bicycle…do you really care where I learned to or that I can?” In these entry level jobs experience is not necessary but, skills and abilities are! This special issue came out of that conversation…Hope it can help others!
