France has officially opened its doors to the online gaming industry.
Through licenses that have been issued by the French Online Gambling Regulatory Authority (ARJEL), French players wishing to play online poker or bet on sports are now legally obliged to do so through gaming sites that are ARJEL compliant and accredited to EU rules.
The ARJEL’s mission is to develop the means of regulation in order to provide French players with a protective environment that guarantees fairness, security and transparency of play. ARJEL issues a compliancy framework that online gaming sites wishing to operate throughout France must follow. Operators who are issued this highly sought after accreditation must be able to guarantee sincerity and traceability of gaming transactions and verification of the player’s identity.
One key technical challenge and a requirement stated by the ARJEL compliance framework is that the operator must capture all data including gaming transaction information and store in a secure digital vault hosted on French soil.
This is where the expertise of ComTrade’s Gaming Competence Center comes in to play.
