Learning Resources on campus<br />The Learning Resource Centre is open:Term Time 8.30 – 21.00 Monday-Thursday, 8.30 – 19.00 Friday, 11.00 – 16.00 Sat.Vacation: 9.00 – 17.00 Monday - Friday<br />The LRC is located in Bevan Building – opposite the lake<br /> The LRC houses the Library, Computing facilities, English Language and Learner support, Dyslexia support and some teaching rooms<br />
    4. 4. IT and Audio Visual<br />120 PCs<br />30 Macs<br />Hardware: A4 scanners. Digital video editing. Laser/inkjet printing. Digital cameras, Mini DV cameras.<br />Software: Avid. Final Cut Pro Studio, Roxio Toast. Trados, Melisi. <br />Basic IT help is available from the Reception Desk<br />Specialist AV help is available from the Multimedia Desk<br />

Study skills support<br />Help with academic writing from the ELLS team - understanding assignment titles, structuring assignments, academic style, referencing, and more.<br />English language development from the ELLS team- punctuation, spelling, grammar, increasing your vocabulary, and more.<br />Numeracy support- for all students who need help with maths. Particularly useful to students who need to pass numeracy tests, e.g. as part of QTS for teaching.<br />

Study skills support is for:<br />Undergraduates and Postgraduates<br />Speakers of English as a First, Second or Foreign Language <br />Students who are on- campus or off-campus<br />Students who are doing well and students who want to do better<br />Students who are new to Middlesex University, new to London or new to the UK<br />Students returning to education after a long gap or coming directly from another course<br />
    11. 11. What does the team offer?<br />30-minute individual tutorials that are free and confidential. <br />General workshops or classes at Trent Park that are free to everybody. No need to enrol in advance, just turn up on the day. Begin in Week 2.<br />Workshops that are tailored to the subject you are studying (your course lecturers will organise these)<br />Online tutorials and information sheets on various academic topics <br />Online writing courses <br />

    17. 17. How to access the computers - username<br />Your IT User ID is printed on the back of your student card. It is usually your initials followed by 3 or more digits.<br />Write down your IT user ID now<br />
    18. 18. How to access the computers - password<br />The first time you login, your password is set to:<br />Mdx + Student Number + Date of Birth<br />For example, if your Student Number = M00123456 and your Date of Birth = 27/06/89Then your password is: MdxM00123456270689<br />Write down your password now<br />

How to access the computers - password<br />You will be forced to change your password the first time you login, so think of a new one now.<br />It MUST be at least 8 characters long and include:At least 1 letter in UPPERCASEAt least 1 letter in lowercaseAt least 1 number<br />For example Sunsh1ne or Monday63<br />Pick something you are going to easily remember.<br />Think of your new password now<br />
