Define very specific requirements as to what the Manufacturing Technician’s (MTs) need and what the Manufacturing Engineers (ME’s) should be delivering. This process will help to directly define the requirements for a manufacturing documentation authoring solution. There was a great deal of integration and interoperability considerations when developing this solution. In the end it was determined to extract the data from ENOVIA/CATIA, set up manufacturing instructions in DELMIA, and portray them in Adobe which was bringing all of the data together with smart forms, and the geometry was being translated and maintained in a lightweight format by Right Hemisphere.

This was a full team effort with almost all development resources allocated to this endeavor. Not only was the solution required to be evaluated, but every interface to other solutions and databases and the impact needed to be considered, evaluated and corrected in an isolated development environment prior to releasing this solution for production. There was a matrix of many different versions of many different softwares and enhancements that dictated the evolution of these solutions so that we could eliminate predetermined issues with the solution. Because of his involvement with other software companies, David contributed to help refine the testing process to include issues outside the scope of the predetermined ones, and also to retest issues on new versions of code as they may have been broken.

These presentations were often tailored to the specific audience which David performed. David was very often called upon to perform the presentations and demonstrations to other organizations and management. Because of his intimate knowledge with the subject matter, David then documented the content of this presentation in detail, including instructions on how to present it. This allowed others to better understand the content and management to present and speak to the content when David could not attend certain meetings. </li></ul>

The existing foundation presentation was a natural structure for the MPD website and contained the vast majority of the content for this website. David was tasked to head up the project management and development of this website. Once the resources were determined, David handed off development and became the primary, (near exclusive), author of the technical content of this website. In order to create robust, communicative content these web pages became animated demonstrations with notes, and eventually David added voice over to the entire technical content of the website. </li></ul>

This led to a new process, which is the early comparison study of body structure to predict stiffness, NVH, and crash worthiness. Utilizing beam elements and a multitude of configurations were able to generate 78 studies in a 2 month period, where traditionally the engineers may have generated 2 – 4 previously. Although using fairly rough data, our team was able to provide enough feedback to narrow the configurations down to 4 then 2 in that time frame. This contributed to the sale of 70+ seats of Mechanica and 2 years of consulting from Rasna and PTC. This work was performed on the Epsilon project which was targeted to be a “World Car” (Grand AM, Mailbu, Saturn, Opel, Saab, etc.), it actually evolved into the Saturn VUE. </li></ul>Page 30 of 31
