  • The Scientific MethodThe scientific method is the only scientificway accepted to back up a theory oridea. This is the method on which allresearch projects should be based. TheScientific Method is used by researchersto support or disprove a theory.
  • The Scientific MethodThe Scientific Method involves 5 steps: Observation Question Hypothesis Method Result
  • The Scientific MethodObservation- You observe somethingin the material world, using your sensesor machines which are basicallyextensions of those senses. AH—Look at this!
  • The Scientific MethodQuestion- You ask a questionabout what you observe.State the problem or question.
  • The Scientific MethodHypothesis- You predict whatyou think the answer toyour question might be.
  • The Scientific MethodMethod - You figure out a way to test whetherthe hypothesis is correct. The outcome must bemeasurable (quantifiable).Record and analyze data.
  • The Scientific MethodResult- You do the experiment usingthe method you came up with andrecord the results. You repeat theexperiment to confirm yourresults by retesting.
  • The Scientific MethodState Conclusion- You state whetheryour prediction was confirmed or notand try to explain your results.
  • The Scientific MethodTest you knowledge byvisiting the Scientific Scenariosand see if you can identifythe steps of the scientificmethod.
