  2. 2. INTRODUCTION <ul><li>This portfolio has been created in order to help teachers to teach vocabulary about clothes. Specifically, it has been designed for English learners of basic level. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers will have an idea how to teach vocabulary with realia and non-authentic material. It is easy to apply this lesson planning since there is no complex material to use. </li></ul>
  3. 3. INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN <ul><li>Learner objective: identify types of clothes. </li></ul><ul><li>Rationale: students need to know about types clothes in order to make a complete description. This information is a complement from physical and personal description. Putting together all this, students can make a description of a person. </li></ul><ul><li>Bridging: students know how to make a physical description of a person, since they know how to describe type of hair, skin, eyes and etc. Also they can make a personal description of a person. It means about the type of personality. </li></ul>
  4. 4. PRE-ASSESSMENT : WHAT KIND OF CLOTHES DOES IT EXIST? WHAT ARE THE CLOTHES FOR MEN OR WOMEN? AT THE END ALL THESE QUESTIONS WILL HELP STUDENTS TO ANSWER THE LAST QUESTION: WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?
  5. 5. <ul><li>Summary: clothes for men are shirt, socks, hat, vest, belt, and son. </li></ul><ul><li>Clothes for women are dress, high-heeled shoes, skirt, and so on. </li></ul><ul><li>Women and men can wear jeans, pants, T-shirts, snickers and so on. </li></ul><ul><li>Post-assessment: make students describe new pictures by themselves. They have to write their descriptions on their notebooks. Pictures will be given by the teacher. </li></ul><ul><li>Linkage: in the next lesson, students will learn to make a complete description of a person putting together all the information they have learnt: physical and personal description including the type of clothes. </li></ul>
  6. 8. 4 Pictures Teacher will stick some pictures of people on the blackboard. He will ask his students to try to describe the type of cloth the people from the picture are wearing. It’s a lockstep activity. In this step teacher is the organizer. Students will identify clothes from images. Pictures. Teacher is a material producer since he has to create his own material for class. 5 5 Pair work Teacher will ask his students to describe the clothes of their classmates in their notebooks at the same time they are doing the speaking description. In this step teacher will the organizer, guide, monitor and resource. Since he will put in pairs his students. Then he will clear any doubt. After that he will correct any problem in pronunciation. Finally, he will assist in any problem of language structures or vocabulary. Students will work in pairs and describe orally the clothes of their classmates. Then they will write it in their notebooks. 10

  8. 10. Conclusion <ul><li>To sum up, I can say that we can create a good lesson planning with common objects and simple activities. The success of an activity depends on the energy of the teacher and motivation that he will give to his students. For that reason it is important to take into account factor like our lesson planning (objective, bridging, etc.) and classroom management (timing, seating arrangement, etc.) Those factors will determine whether a lesson is successful or not. Most of the time a lesson succeeds because of the teacher’s attitude. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology as the internet is a useful tool since it saves time and money; however, teachers need to know how to use them. Certainly, Instructional materials are good in the way teachers apply them in the classroom. </li></ul>
