  • Attendance will be recorded once a week in Moodle (recommended on Friday or the weekend, prior to the start of the following week), and must be up to date weekly. A scale of attendance was created to allow you to indicate the number of days a student attended your class. If you class meets two days each week, the max scale you will select is “attended two days”. To view the roster for recording attendance, click on the “View - submitted assignments”. Once you have recorded at least one record, you will see this number appear in the view 1 submitted assignments.
  • Select the grade button for the first participant in the course. A pop up window will appear.
  • Click the drop down arrow next to the Grade box (top right corner of the window). The scale will appear indicating the number of days attended for the week.
  • Select the appropriate number of days attended; if you want, you can type comments into the textbox that the student will also read when accessing the attendance record. This is a great place to leave positive messages for your student, too.If your class has a lab that meets two days and your course meets three days, you could track a total of 5 days. If the student misses one of the days, you might indicate in the comment section what he missed (lecture or lab).
  • If you are submitting attendance for more than one student, use the SAVE AND SHOW NEXT button. This will save your data input and comments, and will automatically move to the next participant. If you select the SAVE button, it will save the data input and return to the grade roster.
  • Upon completion of updating a record, you will be able to view a summary of the records. If you need to change or add a comment, you can click the update button to open the editing window for a particular student, too.
  • You will need to select the Attendancelink to view only the attendance records.
  • You can select to view an individual record by clicking a student’s name, or your can view a particular week by clicking on the specific week of attendance.
  • Select File in the top right hand area of the page – this pop up window will appear to show options for file.Select Print Preview.
  • Select your page orientation for the printing of the record. Most will find that printing in the landscape layout will save paper, if there are several records. You may want to preview both the landscape and portrait layout before actually printing the record.
  • Preview both layouts to determine best size; click print.
  • Feedback from the Teacher – only the student can see feedback from the teacher from the instructor on the assignment page.
