  • 1. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) Che cos’è il Mediterraneo? Mille cose insieme. [Fernand Braudel]
  • 2. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing.

  • 13. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 One of the priorities in the Mediterranean basin is therefore covering the increasing demand for energy, as much as possible, from renewable energy sources, in particular solar energy. Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari)
  • 14. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) WEAKNESSES •lack of knowledge on the potential and status of development of solar energy related technologies, while their presence in the different markets is quite unbalanced across the region; •a well identified need for a better technology assessment, in terms of technologies mapping and projected evolution trends, and for more active and dynamic technology transfer networks across the region; •a lack of dedicated financing instruments in Mediterranean Partner Countries and a generalised decline of the existing financing instruments in the EU, which calls for innovative funding mechanisms and new approaches to market stimulation; •a wrong public perception regarding the benefits of solar energy investments; •lack of architectural integration of solar systems, both in existing buildings and in new constructions.
  • 15. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) First Call for Strategic Projects The general objective of the Solar topic: Promotion of know-how, good practices and technology transfer in the field of solar energy in the Mediterranean region through cross-border cooperation.
  • 16. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) The specific objective of the Project (4,05 M€): Know how transferred in the solar energy innovative field, shared design methodology implemented and promoted, solar energy innovative technologies promoted at civil society level. .
  • 17. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) FOSTEr in MED Project is carried out by a partnership coming from 2 EU Countries and from 4 Med Countries: UNICA - University of Cagliari – University of Cagliari – DICAAR (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile, Ambientale e Architettura) and DSSI (Dipartimento di Scienze Sociali e delle Istituzioni) (Italy) ASCAME – Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Spain) CSPI – Special Agency Centre Of Services For Enterprises (Italy) CEEBA – Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (Egypt) IRI – Industrial Research Institute (Lebanon) RSS – Royal Scientific Society (Jordan) CCI – Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis (Tunisia) RAS – Autonomus Region of Sardinia - Industry Department (Italy) Membro Associato: Sardinia Mediterranean Foundation (Italy)
  • 18. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) Along the three years duration FOSTEr in MED project will carry out the following activities: Context Analysis. It will be performed in the regions involved in the project and focused on the assessment of solar energy technical knowledge, its development technological trends and the local regulation standards in the area. The Context Analysis will be performed by each partner both with a desk approach and by administration of questionnaires to the local stakeholders and interviews to local administrators.
  • 19. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) Territorial Animation. Solar technologies and its technological trends will be promoted at local level by territorial animation events, in order to rise the awareness of local citizens about the benefits provided by the solar energy. At the same way, school seminars will be performed and students will be informed about solar energy issues. Local public administrators will be also involved in workshop aimed to set up, with a participative approach, policy proposal papers, capable to foster the solar technologies adoption and to overcome local normative barriers. At least 3500 students of 60 schools informed about solar energy and applied technologies At least 350 citizens informed about solar energy and applied technologies At least 6 policy papers proposals
  • 20. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) Competences Transfer. Training path and training courses for designer, university students and for the SMEs will be executed. They will be focused on design, architectural integration and installation of photovoltaic plants. The Technical Scientific Committee of the Project will draw up the Guidelines for Solar technologies (LSC) and their architectonical integration. N. 18 Training paths. N. 180 designers trained. N. 120 installers trained. N. 150 University students trained.
  • 21. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) Pilot Projects. Solar Energy plants will be implemented in five out of six eligible regions: Al-Iskandanyah (Egypt), Lebanon (Lebanon), Al-Aqaba (Jordan), Tunis (Tunisia), Sardinia (Italy), and five public buildings will host innovative solar photovoltaic plants. Public buildings will be selected in order to test different technological solutions and architectural ways of integration. N. 5 Pilot projects realized. N. 85 kWp (KiloWatt Picco) of PV panels installed (of about 17 kWp per plant).
  • 22. Kick Off Meeting, 26-02-2013 Ing. Marco Pittaluga (DICAAR, Università di Cagliari) The FOSTEr project will overcome the dichotomy between theory and practice in the specific field. Transfer of competencies, training and dissemination, will be in fact supported by the design of Guidelines for the Architectonic integration of Solar technologies, and by the implementation of Pilot Projects, as part of best practices.
