OVERVIEW OF ORGANIZATION • Nestle Purina PetCare is a multimillion dollar global company headquartered in St. Louis. Their key focus is on health and nutrition for pets. • 1875 Nestle was established by Swiss pharmacist Henri Nestle. • 1902 William H. Danforth founded the animal food company. Ralston Purina would later take over the company in 1920. • 1985 Nestle would move into the pet food industry by acquiring Friskies, Fancy Feast, and Mighty Dog through its acquisition of Carnation Company. • 2001 The major merger of Nestle’s Friskies products and Ralston Purina’s products turns the company into a globally competitive leader. Nestle Purina PetCare currently employs approximately 14,500 people in the U.S., Latin America, and Canada combined, with 24 manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Canada.Monday, April 23, 12
