    • Your body uses many different kinds of chemicals.
    • 3. Your body needs sugars, proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates.

  • 4. Cancer
    • Cancer is a group of diseases caused by abnormal cell growth and reproduction.
    • 5. Different kinds of cancer can effect specific organs,such as the lung,bladder,stomach,and brain.
    • 6. Although there are different causes and symptoms of cancer , all forms of cancer involve the uncontrolled growth of body cells.
  • 7. More about Cancers
    • A Chemical that causes cancer is called a carcinogen.
    • 8. Lung cancer is often caused by carcinogen contained in tobacco products.
  • 9. Birth Defects
    • Reseach has shown that an unborn child can be harmed if it's mother smokes,drinks alcohol,or uses some type of drugs.
    • 10. A woman who smokes while she's pregant has a greater chance of giving birth to a premature baby.
    • 11. A woman who alcohol while pregnant may have a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).
    • 12. A child born with FAS may have brain damage that results in learning disability s,or behavioral problems.
  • 13. Heart Disease
    • Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
    • 14. Heart disease occurs in the arteries when the supply of blood is narrowed or blocked.
    • 15. The coronary artery is the major blood vessel.
    • 16. The coronary artery supplies blood to the heart
    • 17. Cholesterol is another chemical that causes Heart Disease.
    • 18. Cholesterol is a fatty acid that forms deposits in the arteries.
  • 19. Kidney Disease
    • The kidney are the main organs of the urinary system.
    • 20. The main job of the kidneys is to filter the waste products from the blood
    • 21. Some chemical can harm the kidney and cause kidney disease.
