  • 4. … Quickly evolved into a major repair project
  • 5. Rotten header and window jamb
  • 6. Rotten window jamb and studs hidden behind intact brick molding
  • 7. Rotten sill, crippler studs and jack stud
  • 8. Damage through sub-floor into crawl space
  • 9. Water was flowing down the walls here for years
  • 10. Fixin’ To Repair to the rescue!
  • 11. New header , jack stud and king stud
  • 12. New sill , crippler studs and sill plate
  • 13. Plastic and plywood while waiting for new window
  • 14. Joe installing new wood window into rough opening
  • 15. New window and brick molding installed and painted
  • 16. Finished drywall ; painted walls and trim ; and re-installed blind
  • 17. Cause: overflowing gutter ( water stains ) and gap in mortar caused water to infiltrate walls
  • 18. Fixin’ To Repair sealed the mortar gap…
  • 19. … but couldn’t fix the bad house design* *Complex roof designs cause some gutters to overflow. Check annually for damage from water flowing down the walls.
