Who do we define our main users as ?
Prospective Students
Current Students
Followed by
Faculty / Staff
Alumni
Parents
Donors
As with any marketing project answer the question “Who is the audience?”
User focused design - A shift in perspective Web Communications http://webcomm.fiu.edu In addition to the site architecture, the FIU homepage should be seldom viewed as the final destination of a user and more as an entrance. We seek to get users to their destination as quickly as possible without getting in their way. A great number of web sites impose their organizational structure on the user. Using the org chart as your site navigation is not sufficient. Users visit your site with a certain need to be fulfilled and most can’t find what they need because they don’t know our internal language. (IE acronyms and internal department names).
