SS7<br />The purposes of SS7 can be summarized as follows:<br />- Improves call management<br />- Enhances network management<br />- Separates network control from hardware<br />- Supports user database<br />- Handles addresing and supervision<br />- Supports 800 number portability<br />- Supports local number portability<br />SS7 <br />
  • 4. The MTP has three layers , which form a network similar to X.25 and IP. The functions of these layers are:<br />-The signaling datalink<br />-The signaling link layer <br />-The signaling network layer <br />SS7 protocol<br />
  • 5. Signaling systems can be classified by the method of exchanging signals:<br />Direct current (DC), tone , bit-robbed, and common channel.<br />Signals can be grouped by the four functions they perform:<br />Supervising , addressing , alerting , and call progress<br />PSTN signaling technology <br />
  • 6. Facsimile systems<br />Fax standards<br />Facsimile technology<br />- Customer premise systems<br /> - Facsimile Machine Characteristics<br /> - Scanners<br /> - Facsimile Handshake<br />Facsimile systems<br />
