  • Buy One, Get One Free Promotion Customer FAQ What is the Buy One, Get One Free Offer? It is a limited time promotion where customers who purchase a qualifying Embarcadero product at the regular published price get a coupon which entitles them to choose a second product of equal or lesser value for free. The promotion is available for products purchased between July 1, 2009 and August 24, 2009. Please consult the Terms and Conditions page on the Embarcadero Web site (http://www.embarcadero.com/bogo-terms) for specific details. When does the promotion start? The promotion starts on July 1, 2009. When does the promotion end? The last day to purchase a qualifying product is August 24, 2009 (midnight PT). The last day to redeem the coupon for a free product is September 30, 2009 (midnight PT). What products qualify for the coupon for a free product? The most current available version of the following purchased products are eligible to receive the coupon for a free product. • C++Builder • Change Manager • Delphi • DB Optimizer • Delphi / C++Builder Bundle • DBArtisan • Delphi for PHP • EA/Studio • Delphi Prism • ER/Studio • RAD Studio • Rapid SQL • J Optimizer • InterBase SMP • JBuilder What products can I select from for my free product? You can redeem your coupon and choose from the following list of products for your free product. Determination of which specific editions and/or number of platforms supported (for DG products only) is based on an “equal or lesser value” comparison to the purchased product, as well as the other terms of the promotion. • C++Builder • J Optimizer • Change Manager • Delphi • JBuilder • DB Optimizer • Delphi/C++Builder Bundle • 3rdRail • DBArtisan • Delphi for PHP • TurboRuby • EA/Studio • Delphi Prism • InterBase SMP • ER/Studio • RAD Studio • Rapid SQL July 1, 2009 BOGO Customer FAQ Page 1 of 4
  • Are there any products excluded from this promotion? The following products do not qualify to receive a coupon for a free product, nor are they eligible as the free product: • All-Access • ER/Studio Enterprise Portal • Academic SKUs • DSAuditor • Solution Packs • Rapid SQL Standard for z/OS • Blackfish SQL • Rapid SQL Pro for DB2 LUW and z/OS • JDataStore • Backup Analyst • DT/Studio • DBArtisan Standard for z/OS • Schema Examiner • DBArtisan Work Bench for SQL Server • Delphi/400 • DBArtisan Workbench for DB2 LUW and z/OS • CodeWright • Performance Center Client • ER/Studio UDM • Performance Center Server Where can I go to learn more about this promotion? More information on the BOGO promotion, information on individual products, a tool to help customers select which application they can get for free, and a link to the redeem application is available at http://www.embarcadero.com/bogo-info. How do I get my coupon? You should receive your BOGO coupon at the time you purchase the qualifying product. If you purchase from the Embarcadero online store, it will come in the confirmation email (which also includes the serial number and download URL for the purchased product) that you receive after completing your purchase. If you purchase from Embarcadero sales directly, it should come in the confirmation email from us or be emailed to you by your sales representative. If you purchase from an Embarcadero authorized reseller or channel partner, then that partner should provide the coupon to you directly. How do I register my purchased product? Follow the installation instructions you received with your product. In many cases there is an install.htm file in the product download file which provides installation instructions. You can also locate product specific installation guides and information on the Embarcadero Product Documentation site at http://docs.embarcadero.com. The first time you start the product, the Registration Wizard will appear. Follow the steps in the wizard to register the product. You will find the serial number in your order confirmation email. Online registration requires an Internet connection. If you are having difficulties registering, please see the support section on the Embarcadero website to obtain contact information to assist you with registering your product. How do I redeem my coupon for my free product? Customers can redeem their coupon and select their free application by going to http://www.embarcadero.com/bogo-redeem. Follow these simple steps: 1. Install and register the purchased product. 2. Go to http://www.embarcadero.com/bogo-redeem. 3. Enter the serial number for the purchased product and the BOGO coupon code (if not already present) you received when you purchased the product. 4. Select your free product from the list of eligible products presented to you. 5. An email with a serial number and a URL to download your free product will be sent you to. You will also have the opportunity to begin the download immediately after selecting your free product and redeeming your coupon. 6. The serial number for the free product is assigned to the same EDN account as the purchased product; however the user will still need to register the free product after installing it. • Several products have older versions available for sale; do they qualify for this promotion? No. According to the terms of the BOGO promotion only the most current available versions of the products qualify. Are multi-user license packs included in this promotion, and if so how does it work when I go to redeem the coupon and select my free product? Purchased multi-user license packs qualify for a coupon to receive a free product. When redeeming the coupon, the determination of “lesser or equal value” is based on the single user license price of the purchased product. When associated with a multi-user license pack, the coupon can be redeemed up to the same number times as the number of users in the purchased multi-user pack. Each time the coupon is redeemed you will receive a single user license of the selected free products. For instance, if you purchase a RAD Studio Architect 5 User Pack at a value of $19,346 USD, you can redeem your coupon up to 5 times, each time selecting a product with a value of $4299 USD or less, which is the value of a RAD Studio Architect single user license. Multi-user license packs are not available as free products when redeeming a coupon. If I purchase the Architect edition of Delphi, C++Builder or RAD Studio, can I select ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise as my free product? Yes. You can select ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise for your free product; however it will still be based on the “equal or lesser value” comparison. For instance, if you purchased a single user new license of Delphi Architect with a value of $3499 USD, then only the single platform configuration of ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise would be available to you as your free product. If you purchased a single user new license of RAD Studio Architect with a value of $4299 USD, then the single platform configuration of ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise as well as the multi-platform configuration of ER/Studio Standard would be available to you as your free product. The reason for this is because the ER/Studio Developer Edition that is included in the Architect editions of Delphi, C++Builder and RAD Studio is not a product that can be purchased separately. You can also select ER/Studio Viewer or ER/Studio MetaWizard as your free product. If I purchase ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise, can I select ER/Studio Viewer as my free product? Yes. ER/Studio Viewer is not included in ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise; therefore you can select ER/Studio Viewer as your free product if you purchase either of these. If I purchase ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise, can I select ER/Studio MetaWizard as my free product? Yes. You can select ER/Studio MetaWizard for your free product; however the specific MetaWizard configuration(s) you can select from is determined by the specific edition and number of platforms of the purchased ER/Studio product. For instance, if you purchased ER/Studio Enterprise Single Platform with a list value of $1900 USD, you can select either the MetaWizard Import Bridges ($1100 USD value) or MetaWizard Export Bridges ($1600 USD value), but not the MetaWizard Import/Export Bridges ($2100 USD value) since this is more than the value of ER/Studio Enterprise Single Platform. Similarly, if you purchased ER/Studio Standard Single Platform ($1360 USD value), you would only qualify for the MetaWizard Import Bridges, since both the Export Bridges and the Import/Export Bridges each has a value greater than $1360 USD. If I purchase ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise, can I select Enterprise Portal as my free product? No. Enterprise Portal is not included in the promotion due to the fact it is network license only, and the BOGO promotion only includes Workstation (or Named) licensed products. • If I purchase ER/Studio Standard or ER/Studio Enterprise, can I select EA/Studio as my free product? According to the terms of the promotion the free product can not be included in the purchased product as a component itself. Since EA/Studio is not included in ER/Studio Standard, you can select it as your free product, assuming the other terms of the promotion are met. However, because EA/Studio is included in ER/Studio Enterprise you can not select it as your free product. If I buy RAD Studio, can I select either Delphi, C++Builder or Delphi Prism as my free product? No. You can not select as your free product any product that is included in or part of the product you purchased. Delphi, C++Builder, and Delphi Prism are all included in RAD Studio and therefore can not be selected as the free product in this case. If I purchase Delphi, C++Builder, or Delphi Prism, can I select RAD Studio as my free product? No. You can not select as your free product any product that includes the product you purchased. RAD Studio includes all three of these tools and therefore can not be selected as the free product in this case. If I purchase Delphi can I select Delphi Prism or C++Builder as my free product? Yes. As long as the free product does not include the purchased product, is not included in the purchased product, or isn’t a different edition/level of the purchased product you can choose it as your free product, as long as the remaining terms of the promotion are met. Can I upgrade the purchased product to Embarcadero All-Access at some point in the future? Yes. You can upgrade the purchased product to All-Access under the normal All-Access upgrade terms. Can I upgrade the free product to All-Access at some point in the future? Yes. You can upgrade the free product to All-Access under the normal All-Access upgrade terms.
