The fires of vegetable coverage constitute a common phenomenon in the urban - rural interfaces in the Colombian cities, as result of cultural practices related with the use of the territory and the ineffective governance exercised by the State on those sceneries. With the objective to characterize the dynamics temporal-spatial of the fire and to clarify possible causes, the present investigation was made. Some variables were related to the number and size of the fires happening during the last eleven years in the different vegetable coverage’s and with this information was established the relation between the events and the territory. The results indicate a high concentration of events and areas disturbed in the driest period of the year, with special location in the urban periphery. The gravity of the episodes, established from a proposed index, indicates a major affectation in January and May, being major on the native vegetation.
