    Companies that advertise on television need to know how many viewers they are getting for the money they are spending on air-time
  • 2. Target Audience
    • A Target Audience is the intended buyers of a particular product that the
    advertisement strives to reach. (TV Tropes)-
    • The goal of a commercial is to make money
  • Demographics
    • The television industry may produce TV shows but their goal is to sell you something.
    • 3. The shows exist to create a product (the viewing audience) that the networks can sell.
  • Demographics
    • Demographics include several factors, such as age, sex, race, income, and geography.
    Ex--People ages 2 – 11 will not be interested in buying a car

    • Shows are described to potential advertisers in terms of the demographics.
    • 5. Advertisers are only interested in the demographics that are likely to buy their products.
