Factory of the Future The Italian Intelligent Factory National Cluster Learning Analytics Community Exchange The Italian Intelligent Factory is a 10 ML Euro funded national cluster initiative addressing how disruptive technological trends, such as Internet of Things, 3dprinting , advanced Robotics and innovative ICT solutions are changing the manufacturing landscape towards what many call the 4° industrial revolution. The project is based on 4 parallel objectives looking at how process standardisation, people upskilling and overall «webification» of the Industry may help Europe and its traditional manufacturing hubs (e.g. Germany, Italy, Uk...) survive global competition and lead again within 2020. Learning Analytics Community Exchange 2020 GOALS Disruptive Technology Change Management FACTS TODAY • The United States will be the best place in the world to manufacture and attract foreign direct investment. • It is 20% more expensive to manufacture in the U.S. than it is in its nine largest trading partners (excluding cost of labor) • Manufacturers in the United States will be the world’s leading innovators. • Taken alone, manufacturing in the United States would be the 10th largest economy in the world • The United States will expand access to global markets to enable manufacturers to reach the 95 percent of consumers who live outside our borders. • Manufacturing represents 67% of privatesector R&D spending as well as 30% of the country’s productivity growth • For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.48 is added to the economy, the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector. • 500.000 jobs created during last 3 years and 600.000 unfilled jobs • Manufacturers in the United States will have access to the workforce that the 21st-century economy demands. The LACE Project Learning Analytics Community Exchange LACE is a EU support action project (Grant Nr 619424) funded in the last FP7 TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) call in order to EU Grant Nr 619424 1. Organise a range of activities to actively and passively integrate communities that are conducting Learning Analytics and Education Data Mining research 2. Engage and expose early practitioner adopters, and those who are building first-generation commercial or open-source software. 3. Stimulate creativity and accelerate the identification of viable and effective solutions to real problems, and hence to drive both current research and technology transfer. The LACE Community aims to: Objective 1 – Promote knowledge creation and exchange Objective 2 – Increase the evidence base Objective 3 – Contribute to the definition of future directions Objective 4 – Build consensus on interoperability and data sharing Page 37
