she has studied, students needs a way to realise her true potential and take the most
suited career decision, because students are quite clueless about their potential"

Comic book with a Superhero, fictional character
“Career Torch Bearer” who dons different career
hats and helps save children from making incorrect
career moves
This comic book is aimed at 8-12 year old students.
These are the formative years which will shape up
their careers.
In India, a lotof emphasis is laid on marks and
percentages, rather than skill and personality
development
The aim is to make the students realise through
storytelling how students in similar situations
reacted and took their career decisions. The comic
also aims at pushing students to take up things
they enjoy doing as careers, and realise their true
potential

Career Torch Bearer appears to her
rescue! He Listens to her and
understands what she would like to

option about Apparel Design, tells her
what she can do in that field, however
it overwhelms her
Career Torch Bearer gives her
another option, of cooking yummy
food and Priti realises that she would
just love it!

Happy Hours
This activity is aimed at children from 10-16 yrs of
age.
Keeping aside a couple of hours every week which
allows students to develop skills in areas they are
interested in and they can further develop as
careers in later years
Children are taken to an environment which is
equipped with resources from different fields
Children are left free to explore any activity.
This will help them realise where their true
potential lies

“Happy Hours” environment equipped with
resources for skill development in various fields like
reading books, cooking, film and video, pottery,
sports, etc

Students pursuing their activity of interest

Counselors observing students and taking notes in
the activity sheet
A child doing pottery

Counselors talking to children listening to him/her
why she spent so much time doing that particular
activity, showing them their activity sheet

Child with access to all the information to pottery
on how he can further develop his skills and
convert into a career path

What I learned by testing the prototype?
What I would do next
• I learnt that prototyping helps me look at things I may have
overlooked in the ideation process
• It also helps me test the feasibility of the idea
• Modifications, improvements can be factored in quite early and
will help me save time
• I would try to make the comic book interactive, really found it
very useful suggestion
• And also talk to schools and see if they are receptive about the
Happy Hours idea
• Talk to more students of all age groups, and still build on these
ideas and refine them further
• After refining I would again test it

Rapid Prototyping

  • 1. Problem Statement " A young graduate-who is just out of school, has taken up a career different from what she has studied, students needs a way to realise her true potential and take the most suited career decision, because students are quite clueless about their potential"
  • 3. Protoype 1 Solution Career Torch Bearer Comic book with a Superhero, fictional character “Career Torch Bearer” who dons different career hats and helps save children from making incorrect career moves This comic book is aimed at 8-12 year old students. These are the formative years which will shape up their careers. In India, a lotof emphasis is laid on marks and percentages, rather than skill and personality development The aim is to make the students realise through storytelling how students in similar situations reacted and took their career decisions. The comic also aims at pushing students to take up things they enjoy doing as careers, and realise their true potential Character Sketch: Career Torch Bearer Powers: Connections, Knowledge, Listenin g By Listening and understanding the students/children he shares his Knowledge with them and uses his Connections to get them to the right career Character Sketch: Priti Passing school Confused and disheartened, Priti doesn’t know how to go ahead
  • 4. I have just got 65% in my SSC exams, how will I get admission in a good college! Priti goes with her friend to take admission and finds that she is not able to qualify in any of the options available Career Torch Bearer appears to her rescue! He Listens to her and understands what she would like to do Career Torch Bearer gives her first option about Apparel Design, tells her what she can do in that field, however it overwhelms her Career Torch Bearer gives her another option, of cooking yummy food and Priti realises that she would just love it! CTB giver her all the info about the right college to take Ten years later, Priti is a successful Chef Protoype 1
  • 5. Protoype 2 Solution Happy Hours This activity is aimed at children from 10-16 yrs of age. Keeping aside a couple of hours every week which allows students to develop skills in areas they are interested in and they can further develop as careers in later years Children are taken to an environment which is equipped with resources from different fields Children are left free to explore any activity. This will help them realise where their true potential lies
  • 6. 1 “Happy Hours” environment equipped with resources for skill development in various fields like reading books, cooking, film and video, pottery, sports, etc 2 Students pursuing their activity of interest
  • 7. 3 Counselors observing students and taking notes in the activity sheet A child doing pottery 4 Counselors talking to children listening to him/her why she spent so much time doing that particular activity, showing them their activity sheet
  • 8. 5 Child with access to all the information to pottery on how he can further develop his skills and convert into a career path

  • 13. What I learned by testing the prototype? What I would do next • I learnt that prototyping helps me look at things I may have overlooked in the ideation process • It also helps me test the feasibility of the idea • Modifications, improvements can be factored in quite early and will help me save time • I would try to make the comic book interactive, really found it very useful suggestion • And also talk to schools and see if they are receptive about the Happy Hours idea • Talk to more students of all age groups, and still build on these ideas and refine them further • After refining I would again test it
