New york fashion week wrap up top 6 spring summer 2012 collections

  1. 1. Derek LamOne of the first designers to showcase for fashion week, Derek Lam premiered a classy anddelightful line full of all the colors we look to spring for. Lam featured yellows and blues asseen above with abstract floral patterns. Showing his growth from his earlier designsunderstated with minimal color and off whites, Lam showed the fashion world he knows howto work a pattern.
  2. 2. Diane von FurstenbergStaying true to form the Diane von Furstenberg show was all we expected it to be and more. Not sure if it’s a new partnership or if von Furstenberg was inspired by her past designs toextract what we all love about her line, but whatever it is we couldn’t get enough of herspring 2012 line. The line’s new sleek and stylish poise was received well amongst the linesshowing this season. Particularly we enjoyed the two color floral prints and skirt suits.
  3. 3. Prabal GurungPurple lame, translucent techno fabrics set the tone for Prabal Gurung’s 1930’s style showingduring fashion week. This is one designer who has his technique for mixing and matchingfabrics on a whole other level. Throw in some tailored short suits and tie-dyed rubber and youget one of the most unique spring/summer 2012 collections for the coming season. NickiMinaj sat front row with Anna Wintour to witness Prabal’s fashion brilliance in the making.
  4. 4. Jason WuIt’s no wonder why Jason Wu is Michelle Obama’s designer of choice. During fashion weekWu presented a spring/summer 2012 collection full of color and fantasy frocks. The 50’sinspired hand-made line is highly marketable and no doubt will be greatly sought after thiscoming season. His youthful label is attractive to all women who can afford one of hisfairytale designs. We enjoyed the Breakfast at Tiffany’s style skirts paired with simple tees.
  5. 5. Marc by Marc JacobsThe most sought after American designers across the globe, Marc Jacobs made us tingle atNew York fashion week. The thing that is so appealing about Marc Jacobs designs is thatthey look extremely accessible and wearable. It’s no surprise that Jacobs is all about thetailored design, so we receive a lot of this on the runway. We also saw color blocks with adesired clean, simple and natural style.
  6. 6. Carolina HerreraAn oldie but goodie, Carolina Herrera’s spring/summer 2012 collection left an impression onus this fashion week. The line overall was flowing and glamorous. Check out the sparrowprint floor length dress above. We haven’t seen this done before and give Herrera a nod and awink for mixing it up. Again dynamic duo, and newly found best buds, Anna Wintour andNicki Minaj, sat front row together at the Herrera show. Is Nicki Minaj making a play for aVouge cover? We think so!So much fashion so little time. Thanks for keeping it locked at wikifashionista.com!
