William H. “Bob” Bailey Middle School Judging <ul><li>All candidates will be selected by a panel of judges with a minimum of 3 to 4 members. </li></ul><ul><li>Judges will rate each candidate by using the descriptive criteria established by the advisors. Scores will be recorded in pencil, and all changes must be initialed by the judge making changes. </li></ul><ul><li>The judging process will count for a minimum of 75% of the selection process. </li></ul><ul><li>Grades, citizenship, attendance and dean’s office check will count up to 25% of the selection process. </li></ul>

Dr. William H. “Bob” Bailey Middle School Cheerleader Try-Out Packet <ul><li>Purpose: </li></ul><ul><li>The purpose of the spirit leader group at Dr. William H. “Bob” Bailey Middle School is to promote school spirit and unity among students, staff, athletes, and clubs. Spirit leading will also develop leadership, organizing abilities, group dynamic coordination, and social relationships in each individual by participating in community functions and by fostering enthusiasm at sporting events, assemblies, and other school related activities. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Membership: <ul><li>The Dr. William H. “Bob” Bailey Middle School cheerleading squad will consist of 16-20 members. The members will be selected through a formal try-out process. Two co-captains will be chosen. </li></ul><ul><li>To be eligible to try-out and become a member of the Bailey Middle School cheerleading squad during the 2009/2010 school year, you must adhere to the following information, rules, and regulations. </li></ul>

Requirements: <ul><li>No student will be allowed to tryout without a 2.0 G.P.A. </li></ul><ul><li>Members must maintain a satisfactory or outstanding citizenship mark and good attendance. </li></ul><ul><li>Cheerleading must take priority over all other extra curricular activities from December-March. </li></ul><ul><li>ALL members are required to participate in fundraisers (including: dances, selling tickets/merchandise, CiCi’s etc.). </li></ul>
  12. 12. Requirements Cont: <ul><li>Being on the squad the previous year in no way guarantees placement on the squad the following year. All returning members must participate in the tryout process. </li></ul><ul><li>Members must dress in proper attire during the clinic and the actual tryout day. On tryout day you must wear dark blue or black shorts, plain white shirt, and white tennis shoes. NO JEWELERY AND TASTEFUL MAKEUP. </li></ul><ul><li>Members must be appropriately dressed during all practices. Tennis shoes are required. (No crop tops, jeans, or hard to move in clothing) </li></ul><ul><li>All students who make the Bailey cheerleading squad must have an athletic physical. </li></ul>

We will be </li></ul><ul><li>Conducting a mandatory fundraising event to help </li></ul><ul><li>you offset most of these costs. </li></ul><ul><li>Uniform fee: $100-150 </li></ul><ul><li>Socks/Briefs/Wrap: $40 </li></ul><ul><li>Pom Poms: $15 </li></ul><ul><li>Shoes: $50 </li></ul><ul><li>Cheer wear: $50 </li></ul><ul><li>Cheer Warm-up $60 </li></ul><ul><li>TOTAL $315-365 </li></ul><ul><li>First $100 will be DUE – November 16 th (no exceptions) </li></ul><ul><li>**If a member is dismissed or quits, she must return her uniform IMMEDIATELY unless she has paid in full. </li></ul>

Games and Practices: <ul><li>ALL practices are closed to friends and family unless prior permission is obtained from the coach. </li></ul><ul><li>Squad members will participate in ALL away and home games. </li></ul><ul><li>If a member misses a practice the day before or day of the game/event, she will be benched for the game/event. If a member is absent or tardy to practice more than twice in one week, she will be benched for all games that week. </li></ul><ul><li>All try-out practices are mandatory; do not schedule appointments during practice time. </li></ul><ul><li>Gum and candy are not allowed at practice or games. </li></ul><ul><li>Cheerleading must take priority over all other extra curricular activities from December-March </li></ul>
  15. 15. 4. Conduct Rules: <ul><li>Members must be courteous. Good sportsmanship at all times is required. Sarcasm or negative attitude will not be tolerated. Conduct both in and out of the classroom should set good example to others. </li></ul><ul><li>A negative attitude will affect your tryout score. </li></ul>

Try-out Attire: <ul><li>Each applicant is required to wear a plain white shirt, black shorts, and tennis shoes (white or black preferred). </li></ul><ul><li>Your hair needs to be out of your face and make-up should be in good taste. </li></ul><ul><li>No jewelry may be worn, including facial jewelry. Do NOT get new piercings during tryouts! </li></ul><ul><li>Applicants will be given identifying numbers to be worn on the front of their shirts during the actual try-out day. </li></ul><ul><li>Applicants will be trying out in groups of three. </li></ul>
