  • OVERVIEW
    • Overview – look at question

  • THE OVERVIEW
    • The chart/ graph shows the changes in modes of transport for travel to and from work over fifty years/ from 1950 -2000 in a city and the newspaper report highlights the Minister’s concern to practise a healthy lifestyle.
  • BODY K. F.,ANALYSIS, SYNTHESIS
    • Bus-increased from 25% to 35% in 1975,then dropped to 25% IN 2000
    • Car –increased from 5% in 1950,to 25% in 1975 and 42% in 2000
    • Bicycle- dropped from 40% in 1950,to 10% in 1975 and 4% in 2000
    • Foot- dropped from 30% in 1950 to 6% in 1975 and 2% in 2000
    • Train- non existent in 1950,minimal use 2% in 1950 but increased to 12% in 2000
    • Motorbike- non-existent in in 1950,emerged in 1975 at 22% and dropped to 19% in 2000.

  • CONCLUSION
    • Higher preference of cars as modes of transport
    • Less people cycle or walk to work
    • Concern raised by minister –
    • car-pool,cycle or take a train to work to protect the environment and lead a healthy lifestyle

    • There were many people there
    • The first three rows were filled
    • There were 100 people
    • In 1950, the preferred mode of transport was the bicycle,40%. (A) However,in 1975, 35% preferred to travel by bus (A) and the most popular mode of transport in 2000 was the car at 40%.(A) Hence it can be seen that the choice of transport has changed in the three years.(S)
