    Easy -- basically by support formats and standards like OpenID, OAuth, microformats, ATOM, and XMPP -- but also going both ways with the data.

    Added some notes on data portability here.

    In general, an excellent presentation. Question remains, how willing would existing networks be in participating in something like this?
